Udacity’s Commitment to International Day of Education

The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) declared January 24 as the International Day of Education in December 2018 to bring global peace and sustainable development. Since then people around the world have spread the message of the importance of education and individual growth for opportunities for a better tomorrow.

Udacity’s history leading up to International Day of Education

Udacity is a global, online, lifelong learning platform connecting education to jobs. Udacity works with industry leaders to create project-based online learning programs. These unique collaborations ensure that students learn the technology skills that employers value most.

Udacity began as an experiment in online learning, when Stanford instructors Sebastian Thrun and Peter Norvig elected to offer their “Introduction to Artificial Intelligence” course online to anyone, for free. Over 160,000 students in more than 190 countries enrolled and 23,000 graduated. Thrun found that the top performing Stanford student ranked only number 413. The top 412 students were not from Stanford. The potential to educate at a global scale was awe-inspiring, and Udacity was founded.

Udacity’s Partnerships and International Day of Education

Udacity collaborates with expert instructors and more than 200 global industry partners including AT&T, Google, Facebook, Mercedes-Benz and NVIDIA to close talent gaps.

Udacity works with industry experts to create project and skills-based online learning programs called Nanodegree programs. Udacity Nanodegree programs provide credentials earned through a series of online courses and projects in an array of subjects from self-driving cars and AI to data science and digital marketing
