10 UX Design Trends to Follow in 2022

UX designers make products and technology usable, enjoyable, and accessible. According to LinkedIn’s Jobs on the Rise in 2021Report, UX Design is a fast-growing field and there is a demand for engaging design and content creators. Read on to learn about the 10 top UX design trends to follow in 2022.

  1. Scroll-Triggered Animation or Scrollytelling
Yes, that’s a real thing! Readers can now move around and get their information from dynamic text to fancy graphics. There are no clicks or popups, a reader scrolls through the site. Everything unfolds as you scroll: text, images, and more details are revealed as the user navigates through a design.
  1. Data Visualization
Informational graphics and visuals tell your reader the story. Facts are backed up with data, and the numbers speak for themselves. This UX Design trend offers a view that is simple, easy to read, and helpful without cognitive frustration.
  1. Animations
While animations aren’t new, there is a new way designers are showcasing them called Anthropomorphism. This is a cartoon that has the attribution of human emotions, characteristics, and intentions that mimic human-like behaviors.
  2. Individual Learning
In the age of COVID, UX designers have had to pivot to a new way of helping users learn. Online platforms, such as Udacity let users track their progress, collaborate in real-time with other users, and move at their own pace.
  1. 3D Immersive Visuals
From illustrations to animations, the 3D trend is more popular than ever. It’s a strong way to showcase your branding and message to your audience. Check out this popular attraction Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience to see UX design trend in action.
  2. Bold Typography
Look around, there are bigger and bolder typography examples in the everyday environment. It is a user’s first or last impression on a landing page. It is important to grab the audience’s attention and keep them wanting to see more.
  3. Inclusive Design
According to Microsoft, inclusive design is a methodology that enables and draws on the full range of human diversity. Inclusive UX focuses on functionality, ensuring an encompassing experience regardless of race, religion, location, capabilities, age, gender, etc. in a customer’s digital experiences with a brand. This can mean the difference between gaining or losing a customer.
  4. Hyper-Realistic Landing Pages
Apple’s landing pages have crisp product visuals that encourage consumers to buy the latest and greatest gadget. These types of landing pages encourage customers to reach out and grab the item from the screen.
  1. Virtual and Augmented Reality
Virtual reality and augmented reality aren’t just restricted to gaming, applications span industries like education, automotive, and medicine. AR uses a real-world setting while VR is completely virtual. AR users can control their presence in the real world; VR users are controlled by the system. How about new paint in the kitchen? Winter White or Blushing Beige – AR can show how it will look without leaving the comfort of your couch. See it in action at Behr Paints.
  2. Gesture Control
A poplular UX design trend is gesture recognition uses computer sensors to detect and understand human gestures and movements. Have you ever held your palm in front of your camera to take a photo? How about a bathroom faucet or even the towel dispenser – these are all examples of gesture control. Many companies are starting to incorporate gesture control technology for ease of use in their products.
